What is Cape Windjammer about

The Ship

Cape Windjammers Education Trust currently charters recreational yachts for its sail-training voyages. A project co-operation was achieved with the Western Cape Sea Scouts who make their Tosca 39 available whenever possible. Another cooperation was achieved with the management of the Howard Davis Sailing Charters, who have offered her 66ft traditional ketch for our monthly day excursions.

To further improve on outreach and cost efficiency Cape Windjammers Education Trust’s immediate priority is permanent access to a medium sized sail training vessel. Click here to find out more about a co-operation model that we are offering to investors.

CWET’s long term goal is to build, convert or buy Africa's first Sail Training Tall Ship to make the life changing experience of a Tall Ship voyage widely available for youth in South Africa and the African continent.

A Tall Ship will also give the organization more flexibility by providing up to 6000 trainee days per year and improved cost-efficiency. It will help to become more self-sustainable by offering commercial sail training and team building events.

Furthermore, as a tool for the wider maritime community it will contribute to skills and economic development and act as a goodwill ambassador for South Africa worldwide.

CWET is currently looking for strategic partners and key stakeholders who share their vision for a South African owned Tall Ship and who would like to come on board to make it happen.
